OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
A Sheet Metal General Foreperson plays a crucial role in overseeing sheet metal installation ensuring safety compliance and managing workforce efficiency on construction or industrial sites. Their responsibilities include:
- Leadership & Supervision Directs and coordinates sheet metal crews foremen and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Planning & Scheduling Develops work schedules assigns tasks and ensures project timelines are met.
- Quality Control Reviews sheet metal work for compliance with engineering drawings specifications and industry standards.
- Safety Enforcement Ensures all safety regulations are followed conducts site inspections and facilitates safety meetings.
- Material & Equipment Management Oversees procurement inventory and proper use of sheet metal materials and tools.
- Collaboration Works closely with project managers engineers and other trades to resolve technical issues and maintain workflow.
- Problem-Solving Identifies and addresses any operational or technical challenges related to sheet metal installations.
- Training & Mentorship Guides and develops junior employees ensuring proper work practices and skill development.
- Documentation & Reporting Maintains accurate records of labour productivity per their labour plans work progress safety reports and any changes to the project scope.
A Sheet Metal General Foreperson is instrumental in ensuring that sheet metal projects are completed safely efficiently and up to standard.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Excellent verbal and written communication time management and multi-tasking in order to prioritize workload and stay on top of things as project demands increase.
- Excellent organizational and decision making/problem solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and understand construction drawings associated documentation contracts cost coding systems and work breakdown structures.
- Customer focused & resourceful
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles and ability to effectively plan assign and inspect the work of subordinates.
- Ability to maintain time and material records and to prepare reports and cost estimates.
- Skill in the use of the tools and equipment of the trade.
- Experience in commercial and institutional projects is an asset
