Compensation & Schedule
On-site coverage from 7am to 7pm @ $1900 per 12 hour shift 7 days on 7 days off (additional shifts available if desired) & comprehensive benefits package with 401K match
Position Responsibilities
Lead Code Stroke response efforts serve as the first responder and manage acute neurological events including thrombolytic administration and preliminary interpretation of neuroimaging (CT CTA CTP MRI) in collaboration with Radiology and other specialists
Serve as the admitting and attending physician for patients in the Neuro ICU and Step-Down Units
Deliver expert critical care to patients with cerebral edema hemorrhagic conversion elevated intracranial pressure and other neurologic emergencies
Coordinate care with Stroke/Vascular Neurologists Neuro-Interventionalists Neurosurgeons Cardiologists and other consulting specialists
Communicate clearly with patient families regarding prognosis treatment options and end-of-life considerations
Collaborate with Stroke Floor Hospitalists stroke navigators nursing teams and night coverage providers to ensure continuity of care
Partner with rehabilitation and support services (PT OT ST Case Management) to guide recovery and discharge planning
Manage patient census and facilitate patient transfers both within and between service lines
Provide general internal medicine or critical care management during periods of low neurocritical census
Procedural Requirements
Central & arterial line placement lumbar puncture endotracheal intubation ventilator management & basic ultrasound-guided interventions
Required Privileges
Internal Medicine Core Privileges or Critical Care Core Privileges
Moderate Sedation for Non-Anesthesia Providers (must meet one of the following):
Current certification in ACLS ATLS or PALS/NRP and successful completion of a pharmacology-based sedation competency exam ( 80%)
Candidate Qualifications
MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine Neurology or Critical Care Medicine
Prior experience in neurocritical care preferred but additional in-service stroke/neuro training is available
