About the role
The Brooklyn Museum is seeking a Graphic Designer to lead the creative and design efforts for our Development and Membership teams. This role is responsible for producing compelling visual content that supports donor engagement fundraising and membership campaigns events and institutional advancement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller with a passion for art culture and mission-driven design.
The Graphic Designer will be a member of the Development team reporting into the Senior Manager Strategic Initiatives. This role will split time between working in the Development office and being embedded in a highly collaborative design studio environment under the guidance of the Director of Graphic Design and Brand Creative. The primary areas of focus for the Graphic Designer will be supporting the work of the Membership Individual Giving Corporate Relations Special Events and Institutional Giving and when capacity allows this role will also support other key Museum initiatives external to the Development team.

Responsibilities: - Coordinate design needs across the Development team ensuring the timely completion of materials that are consistent clear and impactful and align with the Museums established brand principles
- Lead the design of collateral across development team including but not limited to donor reports and proposals brochures direct response campaigns email templates invitations fundraising decks and sponsorship signage
- Identify image needs and collaborate with colleagues to plan and obtain photography as well as secure image rights for digital and print use as needed
- Develop and expand on the design work for our Membership program this includes direct mail email design on-site signage swag (totes hats etc.) and signage.
- Support the Special Events team at the Museum developing print and digital signage exhibition openings and other events.
- Assist with creative direction for special fundraising campaigns donor recognition displays and museum branding initiatives.
- Translate complex information into visually compelling and accessible layouts for diverse audiences.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and standards to ensure the Museum is competitive within the field.
- Maintain and uphold brand guidelines across all platforms and ensure consistent design language in fundraising communications.
- Coordinate with vendors and printers to ensure accurate and timely production of print materials.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously meeting tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and design integrity.
- Ensure projects are well-executed and follow the Museums newly implemented visual identity manage project timelines interface and receive feedback directly from clients interface with outside agencies and vendors as needed.
- Expedites and troubleshoots all project-related issues needing immediate attention.
- Other graphic design duties as assigned
Qualifications:- BFA or MFA in graphic design or related field and 3-5 years of professional work experience in graphic design or a related field
- Advanced skill set in Adobe Creative Suite
- Advanced skill set with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
- Experience with basic web design; HTML CSS a plus
- Experience with email design and Wordfly a plus
- Strong understanding of visual identity systems
- Experience producing high-quality pitch decks and marketing materials.
- Experience in non-profit fundraising a plus
- Attention to detail while being a creative thinker and having the ability to work both within and without guidelines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to take direction to receive feedback and to execute accordingly
- Ability to adapt to ever-changing project types and requirements
- Being up to date on current trends in design art culture and technology
- Fantastic organizational skills are necessary
- Passion for art a plus
