QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational and student supervision skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer knowledge and media experience.
- Proficient in alphabetizing and filing.
- Self-starter with good mechanical ability.
- Works well with children and adults.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include but are not limited to)
- Checks materials and equipment in and out to students staff and classrooms.
- Shelves returned materials.
- Notifies students when materials are overdue.
- Schedules and tapes educational television programs for classroom use.
- Learns and implements technology and assists students and staff apply technology in the teaching and learning process.
- Assists the Media Specialist in maintaining the print materials collection including selection/deselection.
- Assists the Media Specialist as a building-wide contact for troubleshooting computer networkinghardware software etc. (i.e. maintaining server back-up systems; setting up new computers; installing CD drives; network cards; software; etc.)
- Cleans and repairs audio visual and computer equipment and materials as time and skills allow and sends equipment to technology department for repair as needed.
- Assists Media Specialist in maintaining print audio visual and computer material and equipment inventories and in weeding the collection.
- Assists teachers with the assembly of classroom resources available from the media center (i.e. references computer and audio visual materials etc.)
- Assists students with library media research operate computers locate books etc.
- Supervises students in the media center and ensures discipline according to building policies.
- Schedules classes in the media center and/or computer lab on a flexible basis.
- Notes and reports daily material usage patterns to help determine where budget would best fulfill user demands.
- Provides input to Media Specialist concerning development of computer audiovisual and supply budgets.
- Provides input to Media Specialist as needed in ordering and processing new materials.
- Creates displays and bulletin boards and assists the Media Specialist develop plans for reading incentive programs and special events (i.e. Childrens Book Week National Library Week etc.)
- Attends appropriate staff development offered by the district.
- Maintains local area network (LAN) under the direction of the Media Specialist.
- Assists Media Specialist and/or teachers in designing and maintaining web pages as directed by the Media Specialist or building Principal.
- Assists with special events (i.e. book fairs etc.) as directed by the Media Specialist and/or building Principal.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Media Specialist and/or building Principal.
At Will Employment: Employment with the Kearney Public School district is not for any period of time and employment may be terminated at any time at the convenience of the terminating party with or without cause and with or without notice.
