JOB TITLE: Senior Floral Processor
SCHEDULE: Full time; start by 8:00 a.m. and must be available Saturdays
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Floral Processor plays a critical role in ensuring the freshness quality and readiness of flowers for design and delivery. This position is responsible for overseeing all floral processing operations from unpacking to cleaning sorting tagging and organizing flowers. You will lead the daily workflow of the processing team ensuring all procedures are followed and deadlines are met.
This role requires physical stamina attention to detail and leadership in maintaining quality and efficiency standards. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Receive floral shipments; verify flowers against invoices and inspect for quality issues
- Process all incoming flowers by end of day unless otherwise approved by supervisor
- Tag and sort flowers for special orders and designer arrangements
- Rotate stock daily; ensure proper hydration and dispose of expired or damaged flowers reporting issues to the supervisor
- Maintain cleanliness organization and proper labeling of all floral coolers
- Ensure freshest flowers are displayed and easily accessible for designers
- Pull and organize flowers for the daily tag list/email; communicate any missing or subpar product to the design and supervisory teams immediately
- Take inventory regularly; restock floral supplies and prep containers as needed
- Provide daily workflow direction to the processing team and coordinate with designers and the general manager on inventory readiness
- Clean and sanitize buckets vases and work areas on an ongoing basis
- Alert supervisor before supplies run low
- Check out with supervisor at end of shift for final walkthrough and task verification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in a floral shop or floral-related industry strongly preferred
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail and ability to uphold quality standards
- Basic proficiency in Excel
- Physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and standing for extended periods
- Must be able to pass a background check

Our History
Karins Florist was established on October 26 1956 at 7 Corners Shopping Center by Bill Dukas and his father-in-law George Raptis. It was one of the original stores in 7 Corners Mall which was one of the first regional shopping malls in the U.S. Named after Bills first born child and Georges first grandchild the business opened with only four employees George & Mary Raptis Bill Dukas and one driver. Karins continued to grow over the years still preserving its family atmosphere.
In 1995 after 38 years Karins relocated to its present location in Vienna Virginia. At this point Bills daughter Maris Angolia joined the business and now serves as its President and CEO.
The physical size of the store has more than doubled but most importantly Karins Florist has consistently made outstanding customer service our top priority.
We are the proud recipients of several awards including Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award for small business VaseOff! All Stars Challenge Best of Fairfax Best Florist in Northern Virginia and Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award and Steve Harvey named us the Best Florist in America.
We attribute that success to our award winning designers the uniqueness of the store our personnel the premium quality flowers and gifts and our loyal customers. Our professional designers can take a customers vision and make it come to life. We have a great team always striving to make sure that we not only meet but exceed our customers expectations.
A lot has changed through the years but one thing has remained the same: Karins has kept its roots in Fairfax County proudly serving the neighborhood it holds dear.
Community Participation
Karins Florist is actively involved in the community and participates in many organizations. They are proud members of the Vienna Business Association and Leadership Fairfax.
Maris Angolia President currently serves on the Inova Foundation Board. Mrs. Angolia has also served on the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts Associates Board and the 2015 World Police and Fire Games Board of Directors as well as the Inova Gala Executive Committee. Maris Angolia is a 2018 Washington Business Journal Women Who Means Business honoree and she was the 2018 Profiles in Success Award winner.
