Job Description

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for aCafeteria Food

Service Manager. Cafeteria Managers work ten (10) months and have health and leave

benefits. DCPS is looking for proven or potential leaders who seek to foster a well maintained

inviting and nutritious environment for students and staff. Cafeteria Manager assignments are

determined following any lateral transfers of existing Cafeteria Managers.

DUTIES:

  • Direct staff in food production and serving cashiering facilities cleaning pre and post service food storage and related activities.
  • Place orders for food and all other food related items.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the kitchen equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain records of purchases inventories expenditures donated foods purchased foods student participation and income.
  • Make recommendations as appropriate that contribute to the efficiency of the schools food service operation.
  • Perform related duties as required by the Food Service Manager and school principal including duties at special meal functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Certificate in Safe Food Handling is required and can be obtained prior to employmentor during the first year of employment.
  • Formal training in food service operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in school and/or commercial cafeteria management and food preparation.
  • Must have the ability to direct and supervise personnel.
  • Possess Computer Skills with understanding of Windows Operating System. (Knowledge of office software packages such as Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook are a plus.).
  • Possess mathematical skills and ability to use office equipment.
  • Must be familiar with the operation and basic maintenance of food service equipment stoves freezers dishwashing equipment steam kettles etc.
  • Ability to manually move shelve stack or raise from floor to table or serving area heavy objects (pots pans trays and food supplies) weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have good organization communication and public relation skills.
