Job Description
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Campus Services Manager & Shuttle Driver Foreman
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A
SHIFT: Monday through Friday: 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm Seasonal
POSITION SUMMARY: Primary responsibility is providing prompt safe and reliable transportation that meets the needs of Moravian University students faculty administration and personnel involved in University functions or business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate shuttle vehicles including 32 passenger and 24 passenger buses as well as passenger vans on a scheduled route to designated campus locations in a safe manner and in full compliance with all PA traffic regulations and department policies.
- Follow set procedures for checking the vehicle at the beginning and conclusion of each shift to ensure the shuttle is in proper working order and to prepare the vehicle for the next shift This includes checking the fuel level cleaning the interior of the shuttle reporting issues directly to the supervisor and securing and locking the shuttle..
- Clean and maintain the appearance inside and outside the vehicle. This includes a quick clean during the typical shift and a more in depth clean during academic break periods.
- Manage passengers in a courteous and respectful manner to include receiving complaints about schedules and quality of service and report such complaints to supervisor monitor passengers with special needs and call for emergency assistance as needed.
- Oversee the loading/unloading of passengers.
- Operate the ADA lift and safely secure mobility equipment for transport.
- Notify the supervisor while in transit of any delays on a scheduled route due to traffic weather or other conditions/circumstances.
- Able to determine adjustments to route pacing to best meet passenger needs in the event of delays to the typical schedule.
- Collect and return lost personal property remaining on the shuttle at the end of the shift.
- Report to the Campus Police dispatcher and Facilities staff all accidents involving a collision and/or any damage (including vandalism) to a university vehicle immediately.
- Provide work beyond regular hours as required and fill-in during vacation periods of others.
- Maintain a current valid Commercial Drivers License (Class B) with passenger endorsement.
- Maintain current DOT physical card.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior transit system experience within an educational or similar institution is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University community.
- A valid Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Drivers License with Passenger Permit is required.
- Must be able to operate all vehicles and equipment associated with University Transportation.
- The mechanical ability associated with the maintenance of vehicles and equipment is preferred.
