Mechanical Engineer-Full Time-Gillette (WY)United States

The individual with this position will have to coordinate between the machine shop quotation department and the customer. This position will consist of on-site work and field service work. This engineering position will entail a dual role with hands-on tasks along with office responsibilities. It is expected that the individual will need training as part of the on-boarding process and Sulzer will accommodate.

Job requirements

  • Preferred 3 years experience in rotating equipment repairs
  • The preferred experience is in rotating equipment repairs but acceptable experience includes
    • Rotating equipment manufacturing
    • Rotating equipment package design and assembly
    • Vibration analysis
    • Field Service-Overhauls
  • Proficient with CAD software: AutoDesk or Solidworks
  • Preferred Knowhow of the following topics
    • Rolling element bearings sleeve babbitt bearings
    • Oil seals and their functionality
    • Vibration spectrums and how to interpret them
    • Alignment
    • Dynamic balancing
    • Metallurgical Analysis
  • Proficient in the usage of micrometers
  • Familiarity with seal and bearing clearances to shafts is preferred if not it is expected this topic is learnt by the engineer as part of on-the-job training.

Role

  • The mechanical engineer will need to bridge the communication to the customers on the mechanical portion of the repair.
  • The mechanical engineer will need to be involved on the discovery side of the inspections to assist in developing an accurate work scope.
  • Should be proficient in CAD software to document design changes and create drawings to be shared with the customers.
  • This role will require the individual to be hands-on and involved in the day-to day operations.
  • The role will require performing or confirming precise measurements using micrometers and calipers.
  • This role will require use of electrical test tools to determine the condition of equipment.

Mandatory Attributes

  • The individual must be self-motivated and must be prepared for on-the-job training.
  • The individual must take responsibility of their assigned task and finish it in a timely manner.
