The Civil Construction Apprentice supports skilled tradespeople in the construction repair and maintenance of infrastructure such as roads bridges drainage systems and other civil projects. This entry-level role is designed to provide on-the-job training in civil construction methods safety practices and equipment operation while gaining experience toward a career in heavy civil construction.
Assist in preparing construction sites including clearing debris leveling ground and setting up barriers or signage.
Load unload and organize materials and tools at the job site.
Perform basic labor tasks such as digging trenches backfilling compacting soil and pouring concrete.
Operate or learn to operate small construction equipment and tools safely (e.g. compactors saws jackhammers).
Support in placing forms and reinforcement for concrete structures such as curbs sidewalks and foundations.
Follow directions from site supervisors and experienced crew members.
Maintain a clean organized and hazard-free work environment.
Comply with all OSHA company and site-specific safety regulations and standards.
Attend mandatory apprenticeship training sessions including classroom instruction as required.
Document work hours and training milestones to track apprenticeship progress.
