Job Description
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a full-time Regional Engagement Strategist - Hillsboro to be an ambassador from OMSI to the Hillsboro Oregon community and more specifically the Hillsboro School District. They will work on strengthening and building STEAM partnerships within the district by creating and delivering engaging science-based creative programming. The position is designed to add to the science learning opportunities that the Hillsboro School District community has access to resulting in the enrichment of available STEAM offerings. This position is located at Tamarack Elementary in Hillsboro.
Qualified candidates will have but not limited to:
- Demonstrated and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with an emphasis on fostering strong community partner relationships and student and teacher belonging
- Ability to create and present engaging content with learners (in-person and digital formats) in a culturally responsive manner with an emphasis on building and fostering science identity
- Ability to interact with parents/caregivers teachers and partners in a culturally responsive manner with an emphasis on inclusion and accessibility
- Ability to conceptualize concepts and breakdown science topics into weeks-long and daily lesson plans that are approachable and digestible to a range of learners and styles
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree
- Minimum of 3 years experience with the following:
- Examples of developing synthesizing and delivering educational content to diverse audiences with an emphasis on educational programming for K-12th grader
- Examples of effective classroom management and time management capabilities
- Experience working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and talents in an informal/formal education work environment with an emphasis on working with students families and colleagues of color
The Regional Engagement Strategist - Hillsboro has an annual pay of$61659.90 and is eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes:
- 2 weeks of vacation per year with no waiting period. Hours carry over year to year up to 200 hours
- 2 weeks of sick time per year with no waiting period. Hours carry over year to year up to 520 hours
