Job Description
Thompson Engineering is looking for an Engineering intern in our Tuscaloosa AL office. The Thompson Internship Program is a program for college students (working towards a degree in Engineering) to learn and gain professional work experience. The intern program is designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks relevant to their field of study. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of alternatives.
DUTIES
- Learning what constitutes best management practices and applying it to his/her work.
- Using computers handbooks drawing instruments etc.
- Performing basic design calculations within his/her discipline.
- Performing neat accurate and productive work.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
- Inspect workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
- Maintains required reports of construction inspection activities.
- Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program.
- The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally graphically and in writing.
Physical Requirements
- Must be willing to work flexible schedules and overtime if required.
- Must be able to operate a computer and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in the field or outside able to bend stoop climb and walk on uneven terrain and pavements concrete grass dirt and gravel.
