The University of Iowa Health Care Information Systems has a great opportunity to join our team as an IT Manager - Knowledge Management & Disaster Recover! In this role you will direct the development and operational management of our developing knowledge management strategy and our disaster recovery requirements for the UI Health Care IT department. UI Health Care IT spans ambulatory care critical care periop services administrative and research environments across the state of Iowa. You will organize and facilitate disaster simulations involving all levels of UI Health Care and UI staff. You will direct and manage a small team of technical staff to deliver critical information system services to all levels of UI Health Care faculty staff and customers. You will direct the recruitment performance and career development activities of responsible staff. You will closely partner with and collaborate with leaders across UI Health Care departments and the academic enterprise to support organizational initiatives.
Occasional off-hours and weekend work may be required along with sharing in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.
This position is eligible for hybridwork within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with theremote work program and related policiesandemployee travel policy when working at a remote location.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assesses and communicates risks associated with technology related acquisitions and deployments
- Defines business continuity requirements for technology implementations and communicates them to stakeholders
- Management of Health Care Information Systems Disaster Recovery strategies.
- Management of Health Care Information Systems Knowledge Management strategies.
- Management of Health Care Information Systems Incident Management strategies.
- Reviews and influences hardware and software acquisitions along with the evaluation of operational sustainability.
- Contributes collaboratively within a fast-paced environment to ensure design and delivery of high quality scalable sustainable and secure technical solutions that adhere to industry and institutional standards and best practices.
- Provides guidance and oversight during service design implementation testing deployment and refinement phases.
- Acts as a conduit between senior leadership academic and healthcare departments across campus all levels of faculty staff customers and patients.
- Understands institutional goals and objectives translates these goals and objectives to adhere to established disaster recovery and business continuity needs.
- Ensures projects and services meet business and customer needs and expectations
- Defines and influences organizational structure and improvement opportunities.
- Influences team services including all technology systems and operational support for the enterprise.
- Oversee provided services throughout all UI Health Care clinical critical care departmental and research environments including 50 off-site locations.
- Guides departmental IT resource personnel to ensure alignment with central IT and organizational initiatives.
- Collaborate with central planning teams and provide leadership in ongoing efforts for design deployment testing and maintenance of new and existing disaster recovery processes and systems.
- Ensures projects and services meet business and customer needs and expectations
- Participates and conducts financial analysis on information systems and related operational support and drives optimal return on investment for the enterprise and department
- Ensure supported systems meet or exceed established best practices and business continuity requirements
- Influences information technology services decision making at department and enterprise level
- Recruits and manages the performance of staff
- Identifies professional development opportunities and encourages continuous learning
- Identifies essential skills and experiences for the success of the department and oversee the succession planning for critical positions and staff members

Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or MIS or an equivalent combination of education and related healthcare technology experience and technical certifications.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience (typically 5-7 years) defining planning and guiding the installation of IT services involving multi-disciplinary teams in an enterprise environment with considerable (2-4 years) administrative and management experience including staff management activities.
- Extensive knowledge of technology spaces including hardware networking storage systems security application and server/client services.
- Extremely organized highly motivated self-starter with excellent attention to detail and excellent multi-tasking skills. Along with exceptional verbal written communication and documentation skills; ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audience.
- Extensive knowledge of technology trends and demonstrated experience applying innovative technology solutions to business and healthcare problems.
- Experience developing initiatives to drive collaborative and service orientation skills throughout organization.
