Dobson DaVanzo & Associates LLC (Dobson DaVanzo) is a health care consulting firm based in Vienna Virginia in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Our core competencies include modeling the impact of Medicare and Medicaid payment policies on health care providers using a variety of statistical and econometric methodologies in order to aid in the development of future payment systems. The work of our principals has influenced numerous public policy decisions and is reflected in legislation and regulation. Our research helps payers and providers develop implement and evaluate equitable payment methodologies. We apply decades of staff experience access to a broad range of policymakers and subject matter experts and innovative research techniques in order to best meet our clients needs. Our analyses using public and private-sector data are objective and rigorous.

We are seeking candidates with related qualifications and experience to fill a Research Analyst position.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • A Masters Degree preferably in public policy economics healthcare management public health or statistics
  • 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in health care research health policy analysis and/or public sector consulting
  • Preference will be given to candidates familiar with the Medicare Part D program Medicare alternative and prospective payment systems or working knowledge and experience with Medicare or Medicaid.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Be detail-focused and possess strong critical thinking organizational listening and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing in a clear coherent and concise manner
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively quickly learn and apply new skills and adapt to changing needs across multiple projects in a demanding fast paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Familiarity and experience with database manipulation complex database construction and data analysis using statistical programs such as SAS Python R etc. preferred
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Access preferred
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing summary tables and charts interpreting quantitative and qualitative findings and summarizing findings in client reports and presentations
  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews and synthesizing findings
  • Summarizing public comments on CMS proposed rules
  • Assisting with the management and operation of projects with clients including project coordination leading communication across teams and with clients preparation of materials for and summarizing outcomes of client meetings preparation of regular monthly progress reports preparation of memoranda presentations and other administrative and research related support as needed
  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals

We are at the forefront of using administrative data sets to explore payment bundling and other Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) initiatives. Our analyses are rigorous and objective and make use of a variety of public and private-sector data sources.

We have provided testimony to CMS the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) U.S. Treasury as well as members of Congress State legislatures and numerous stakeholder groups. Dobson DaVanzo also routinely facilitates group discussions concerning policy development with organizational leadership and Boards of Directors. We also provide technical briefings on study results to a wide range of policymakers such as state legislators congressional staff and members MedPAC CMS and White House staff in the Executive Office of Management and Budget (EOMB).
