Under the direction of the VP of Finance the Director of Accounting is responsible for managing the day-to-day and month-end activities of the GL accounting team accounts payable team and sales and local tax accountant. This position will support the continued growth of the organization by ensuring compliance with GAAP providing executive leadership with accurate and timely financial consolidated financial statements and establishing accounting policies SOPs and internal controls. The ideal candidate has a public accounting/private company mix of experience and can pivot between hands-on management and overall business perspectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end close process ensuring that financial statements are adequately supported
- Manage the annual financial audit
- Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Analyzing and reporting cost variances
- Providing monthly quarterly and year-end analyses
- Managing aspects of the general ledger entries from corporate perspective
- Assisting with billing and tax documentation preparation
- Collaborating with the IT department to maintain financial records and system processes
- Serving as a liaison to external auditors as assigned
- Assisting with the budget process as assigned
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls
- Work with Director Operations and Financial Reporting to ensure continuous improvement strategic department initiatives are developed and implemented.
- Ensuring all accounting practices follow legal guidelines and established accounting principles
- Working with the company financial team to create internal controls and policies; follows all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant
- Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience and 8 years of experience preferably with a public accounting/private company mix of experience.
- Strong management skills.
- High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently; Able to organize plan and prioritize work.
- Problem Solving skills.

Travel:Minimal
Location: Houston TX
Salary Range:$160000.00 to $180000.00 depending on experience Bonus Eligible.
