Job Description

SCHOOL: Southern Okanagan Secondary School
POSTING: #18 - 2025/26 REVISED
POSITION: Secondary English Teacher (includes Law 12)
APPOINTMENT: 0.857 Continuing
START DATE: September 1 2025
Qualifications Required:
- degree in secondary education with an English major and relevant upper-level course work;
- recent successful classroom experience teaching at the secondary level in the subject area(s);
- ability to adapt curriculum programs and instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students;
- ability to model teach and foster social emotional and cultural awareness;
- knowledge of current 21st century pedagogy and assessment practices;
- demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the professionalcommunity at the school and district level;
- effective communication interpersonal organizational and classroom management skills;
- ability to integrate technologies and digital citizenship into educational programs; and
- BC Professional Teaching Certificate and current eligibility for Teacher Qualification Service card.
