Description
Job Title: Band Director
Summary: The Band Director directs and manages the overall Band Program for FWC. The Band Director provides students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensures compliance with all state and school requirements. The Band Director plans activities to achieve school regional and state recognition.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Direct and supervise all school band performances including pep band marching band concert band jazz band soloists small ensembles etc.
- Establish performance requirements enforce academic requirements and verify each students eligibility to participate in band.
- Provide opportunities for band participation in curricular and extracurricular events including concerts football games pep rallies parades TAPPS ATSSB and TPSMEA activities.
- Arrange transportation lodging and meals for out-of-town events.
- Comply with federal and state laws State and Local Board of Education policy and TAPPS rules pertaining to band participation.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
- Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
- Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within the department.
- Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
- Assist with recruitment selection supervision and mentoring of student leadership within the program.
- Develop and implement plans for improvement and growth of Band Program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Committed to living and teaching a life of service to Christ in accordance with the FWC Statement of Faith and Beliefs.
- Occupy current Band Teaching Position.
- Demonstrate proficient to advance skills in the use of the internet e-mail Microsoft Word Excel Publisher PowerPoint and SmartMusic.
- Demonstrate writing and editing skills.
- Demonstrate willingness to improve competency and teaching effectiveness by participating in professional growth opportunities.
