The Role:We are looking for an experienced candidate to fill the role ofPaint & Blast Booth Operatoron our first shift (6:00am 2:30pm). This position will be responsible for the prep sandblast and application of protective and/or decorative paint finishes to prepared surfaces on a variety of products to meet specifications. The Operator will formulate test mix and apply liquid coatings to meet specifications.
Your Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Work both independently and as a team as needed to achieve on-time on-quality targets with the following responsibilities:
Preparation of surfaces for painting: includes sanding cleaning off contaminants and taping areas not to be painted.
Read and understand paint specifications and product data sheets for a variety of paint manufacturers.
Select and properly mix paint for project according to specifications.
Keep work area paint equipment and tools clean orderly and in good working condition.
Perform basic maintenance of painting equipment.
Keep up to date on the knowledge of and fitness to use supplied air breathing equipment
Adhere to Xylems safety practices and processes and consistently practice Xylems Culture of Safety and Accept Only Zero initiatives
Assist with the packaging and shipment of pump and parts orders
When the assembly repair test and/or shipping/receiving areas of the shop are in need this position will also assist on an as-needed basis with providing the following support:
Pump and parts order assembly
Pump disassembly and repair
Pump hydrostatic and performance testing
Receiving and stocking inventory
Prepping and painting of pump and parts orders
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years of painting and blasting experience in a manufacturing shop environment
Mechanical aptitude with a safety-oriented mindset
Familiar with conventional and painting techniques specific to manufacturing needs
Know how to use and maintain a variety of types of spray equipment
Be able to read and interpret blueprints technical manuals charts and schematics
Dependable and able to work effectively under pressure often independently
Must be able to pass regular physical tests per Xylems safety requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Fork-Lift/Crane experience preferred but not required

Must be able to lift 35 pounds
Regularly required to stand reach bend squat push pull and move about the facility
Ability to climb ladders lift and carry heavy loads perform manual labor
Ability to work in areas involving heights enclosed spaces and near or above water
Work with material handling equipment hand tools and daily exposure to shop elements
Walk or stand at least 8 hours per day
Ability to work overtime occasionally
