Clean Water Starts with You! - Join Our Storm Water Quality Team in Protecting Our Islands Future.

TheDepartment of Facility MaintenanceStorm Water Quality Division is looking for an Environmental Technician II to help conduct various inspections investigations and enforcement activities to ensure compliance.

As an Environmental Technician II your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Performing moderately difficult storm water commercial and industrial compliance program inspections of various prioritized industrial and commercial properties.
  • Performing moderately difficult City industrial facilities pollution prevention inspections in compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Performing any follow up enforcement actions in support of the branchs programs to ensure necessary corrective behaviors and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Operating a vehicle independently to perform fieldwork attend meetings and conduct inspections; monitoring and assessments of various projects properties and locations
  • May also require overtime work including evening weekends and holidays; for investigations public outreach field sampling and presentations to community groups
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States of a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three years of technical field experience which involved inspectional and/or investigational work relating to the enforcement of laws ordinances and/or rules and regulations one of which shall have been in an environmental program; or one year of work experience at the next lower level.


The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.

Verification Requirement: In order to be given credit for your education clearly list your education credentials on your application. As part of the hiring process you may be asked to furnish documentation to verify your education to satisfy this education qualification requirement. LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid drivers license as required. The current vacancy requires a valid Type 3 (automobile) license prior to appointment.
