Essential Functions:
Coaches team members individually and in groups and demonstrates game techniques. Manages designated skill development areas or groups of positions. Develops and recommends strategy teaches theoretical skill and position assignments.
Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with Conference and university regulations.
Teaches 2-3 physical education courses annually as required for student graduation criteria. Substitute teaches as needed when requested by Head Coach and Director of PE.
Promotes the athletics program and specific sport through community events camps and public speaking. Teaches athletic skills and development through local youth programming.
Mentors and advises student athletes on personal health strength training and nutrition.
Recruits quality prospective student-athletes and ensures timely submission of their academic records for admissions.
Ensures compliance with all Association Conference and University rules by athletes and supporting staff.
Communicates consistently with head-coaches administration and peers about program goals status and needs.
Schedules and manages team travel including lodging transportation and meal arrangements in accordance with budgetary restrictions.
Serves as an event manager for home contests.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelors degree is required and a masters degree and collegiate playing experience is preferred. Must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student-athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship on and off the playing field. Role models appropriate behavior and conduct to support the image and reputation of the athletics program. Strong understanding of various coaching techniques and a willingness to learn new methods of instruction. Must possess a valid drivers license.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with the Clery Act. This position is required to report Clery qualifying crimes to the Department of Public Safety and complete annual training about your reporting responsibilities under the law.
Physical Requirements:
Fingering: Picking pinching typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands and/or fingers.
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Standing: Remaining upright on the feet particularly for sustained periods of time.
Working Conditions: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
Types of Work: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light Work.
