Description of Work
- NOW ELIGIBLE FOR A $1500 SIGN-ON BONUSTo be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.
The Health Care Technician I position is located at the Healthcare Facility in the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW). The North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women is the states primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest female offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the states other female offenders. This Institution houses up to 1700 offenders. The Healthcare Facility employees approximately 260 full time employees.
The Health Care Technician I position responsibilities include the following:- Assist RNs LPNs and HCTIIs in providing care treatment and services within their scope of practice such as obtaining vital signs weight height preparing the patient for examination etc. as trained and within the scope of practice.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as feeding bathing clothing toileting turning and repositioning ambulation.
- Transport patients safely using appropriate means.
- Observing patients and reporting observations to the nurse.
- The NAI will collect label specimens such as blood urine feces and sputum as trained within scope of practice.
- Changing linens and making beds.
- Keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
- Engage in therapeutic activities with patients such as group therapies and recreational activities in mental health.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

TheDivision of Comprehensive Health Servicesis dedicated to providing evidence-based compassionate and constitutionally consistent medical care to all offenders in custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians nurses behavioral health services dental services psychiatric services pharmacy services and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent acute routine and chronic health care as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison improving public health and decreasing recidivism.
