Motorola Solutions is a world leader in the field of professional mobile communications systems with an impressive heritage of technological innovations and a global base of installed systems. The groups main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.

The Senior System Technologist (ST) is an onsite position dedicated to the office and customers located in the Lee County FL and Collier County FL area. The ST MUST reside near/within Lee County FL or Collier County FL to be available for 24/7 rotation of support 365 days of the year.

Job Description

Join Motorola Solutions and become a vital part of our team ensuring the smooth operation of complex mission-critical communication systems in the Lee County FL and Collier County FL area. This is an onsite position requiring a dedicated professional who resides near/within Lee County FL or Collier County FL.

This role requires expertise in optimizing and supporting a diverse range of mission-critical communication systems including legacy analog advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure. You will master the technical intricacies of mission-critical communication systems including legacy analog advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.

• Play a crucial role in supporting the Motorola systems that our public safety customers rely on.

• Responsibilities include the optimization and support of complex mission critical communication systems.

• Troubleshoot provision program configure test and optimize: Dive into the heart of software-driven electronics troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring seamless performance of communication system infrastructure. You will be responsible for optimizing RF and broadband architectures ensuring optimal system performance.

• Become a master of complex mission critical communication systems proficient in programming configuring optimizing testing and documenting these intricate systems.

• Program configure optimize test and document complex communications systems.

• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.

• Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results

• Conduct regular preventative maintenance routines analyzing system trends to proactively address potential issues and ensure seamless operation.

• Develop innovative solutions for challenging technical problems encountered during system implementation upgrades or support issues.

• Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques

• Team with Engineering Project Management and Sales personnel to effectively design implement optimize and cut over advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations.

• Work with local and remote teams to accomplish complex tasks for mission critical communications.

• Deliver strong knowledge of wired communications systems such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) must have an understanding of computer network installation configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling routers switches firewalls and endpoint devices.

• Capable of installing server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.

• Provide extensive knowledge of R.F. systems such as transmitters receivers and antenna networks.

• Deliver expert knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits as well as knowledge of packet switching techniques

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

• Juniper networks (JNCIA preferred but not required)

• Nokia MPLS

• CompTIA Network

• CompTIA Security

• ETA CETa or better

• Motorola R56 Installer

• Firewalls MPLS and OSI models.

• Motorola Solutions Radio products and features

• Server hardware virtual machines Microsoft and Linux based servers.

Candidate Requirements:

• 6 years experience with Motorola Astro P25 Communications Systems VHF UHF 700/800 Public Safety Radio systems.

• Experience with one or more of the following: P25 radio systems NICE public safety loggers LMR RF systems networking equipment IT networks.

• Good understanding of Motorola Trunking P25 and SmartZone systems.

• Must have very strong knowledge of wired/wireless communications systems such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) must be proficient in computer network installation configuration and maintenance.

• Experience with P25 Systems LMR RF systems networking equipment IT networks and subscriber equipment.

• Experienced with Motorola Solutions Public Safety P25 700/800 MHz radio systems.

• Candidates must have knowledge of Motorola Solutions radio systems.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.

• Must have a current valid drivers license and a clean driving record.

• Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Word MS Excel Google Workspace applications.

• Strong self-management skills and people skills to work closely with Motorolas customers and subcontractor (MSS) community as well as Motorola Sales Engineering Project Management and Customer Service Teams.

• Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.

• Able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.

• ETA International CETa or the ability to acquire CETa within 6 months of hire.

• Must be able to work on-call with the local team(s) on rotation for after hours support and storm response.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justices Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
