About the Position:
The Student Health and Counseling Center strives to support students in achieving their academic professional and personal goals. Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is crucial for living a higher quality life and reaching your highest potential. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Injury Prevention and Strength and Conditioning Educator (Health Educator). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity openness flexibility integrity and kindness.
Under the general direction of the medical director for TitanMED and leadership of the Lead Athletic Trainer the Injury Prevention and Strength and Conditioning Educator (PRS Educator) will design implement and evaluate transitional strength and conditioning programs and injury prevention education and outreach for CSUF students. Using research and best and emerging practices develop an educational and strength/conditioning program for safe re-entry to fitness and exercise post rehabilitation for PRS patients including metrics that demonstrate improvement in strength and technique and assist patients in identifying a regular and advancing independent fitness program and healthy lifestyle. Develop conduct and evaluate skills-based recovery injury prevention for CSUF students at increased risk for sports and curriculum-based injury. Develop promotional education and assessment materials media and protocols. Solicit program participation via outreach and events digital and other marketing and collaborative relationships with identified campus partners and faculty. Monitor campus state and national student injury trends and recovery best practices to determine programming and intervention needs and priorities. Conduct workshops presentations participate in resource fairs and distribute educational materials to various stakeholders and constituents on campus. Provide clinical and administrative support in PRS including appointment scheduling preparing patients for treatment appointments facilitating and adhering to supervised patient prescribed programs and assist with comprehensive charting in patients electronic health records. Prepare and submit utilization annual and assessment reports maintain accurate programming and participant documentation and adhere to privacy confidentiality and document retention policies. Collaborate with campus and TitanHEALTH personnel and other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent in an approved program in health education or a related health field. Equivalent to one to two years of progressively responsible health education experience or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Thorough knowledge of health education theories research and program assessment; planning design implementation and evaluation of health education programs; and industry standards for the delivery of health education in higher education. General knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly current and emerging college age student health problems and existing methods of intervention and control. Working knowledge of the principles of educational and social psychology and how these apply to health education program; and applicable industry standards and practices for health promotion such as those found in the American College Health Associations Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education
Ability to assess needs and establish or recommend program priorities and goals and develop plans to achieve goals; collect compile chart and analyze data pertinent to health education program planning; plan organize conduct or oversee a variety of health education program and activities including discussion groups and workshops; develop educational materials and media such as pamphlets audio and video materials and electronic media; present ideas and information accurately effectively and concisely both orally and in writing; use computer and web-based information technology systems as a resource for research and providing health education programs; maintain confidentiality consistent with applicable laws and regulations; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers students medical and other health professionals representatives of the news media and other community groups.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Kinesiology Public Health or related field. Experience working in a clinical setting in a college health or athletic training environment.
License/Certifications
Strength and Conditioning certification (CSCS); valid CPR certification.
