For our offices in Frankfurt Cologne or Wiesbaden we are looking for a

Head of Legal DACH (m/f/d)

The role

As Head of Legal for DACH (Germany Austria and Switzerland) you will be part of the European Legal Team within WTWs Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel for Northern Europe your role will be to oversee the provision of all legal support to the various businesses with the DACH region primarily Germany. The role is broad in nature covering a stimulating and varied range of legal issues contentious and non-contentious matters and will include working with external Counsel and the other functional leads in the DACH region. You will have managerial responsibility for the other members of the German legal team (one lawyer and one junior lawyer).

The following is a non-exhaustive list of the types of activity the role involves:

  • Drafting and negotiating client contracts in relation to the provision of consultancy broking and related services (e.g. Master Service Agreements TOBAs Outsourcing Agreements Statements of Work etc.).
  • Advising on all legal issues relevant to WTWs DACH Businesses.
  • Advising on data protection matters and supporting the European Data Protection Officer including taking on the role of DPO for entities with the DACH region.
  • Supporting other teams within OGC (e.g. Compliance Risk and Corporate Governance etc.) on legal matters relating to the DACH region.
  • Advising the Compliance team on regulatory issues connected to the DACH businesses.
  • Supporting the Litigation Team on litigation and related contentious matters.
  • Supporting the Employment Team on HR related matters.
  • Reviewing WTW policy and internal governance documents.
  • Advising on supplier and vendor agreements.
  • Involvement in a wide array of OGC Group wide projects.



Qualifications

The requirements

You would be a lawyer qualified in Germany with strong academic qualifications and have at least 5 years experience either in private practice or in-house (or both). A strong ability to communicate in English is important.

To succeed in this role you need to be confident and self-starting with a robust commercial approach and a commitment to finding solutions to challenging legal issues. The role would be based in Germany (preferably in Frankfurt) and includes the option of working flexibly from home a number of days per week.
