Job Description
Job Title: Quality Inspector
Summary: Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. (will train these duties if needed).
Interprets engineering drawings schematic diagrams or formulas then confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Tests at specific stages in production process and tests products for variety of qualities such as: dimensions and mechanical characteristics.
Records test data applying statistical quality control procedures.
Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of customer specifications and equipment capability.
Prepares graphs or charts of data and enters data into computer for analysis.
Confers with management other staff and customers regarding defects.
Provides technical assistance to production personnel
Participates in cross functional teaming efforts.
Possesses the ability to use precision hand inspection tools (e.g. Thickness Meter Gloss Meter Micrometer/Caliper/Height Stand/Test Indicator/Protractor/Thread plug and ring gages. . .)
Qualifications :
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two years experience in quality at a manufacturing facility preferred.
- To perform this job successfully you must be able to correctly read and interpret complex engineering drawings specifications and processes. Will train these skills if entry level candidate is chosen.
- Excellent computer skills and MRP systems experience preferred.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
