Possess and maintain valid certification with the Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Valid MA DESE licensure in Speech Language and Hearing Disorders (All Levels). Knowledge of Massachusetts and federal special education regulations. Background in test administration interpretation and educational implications. Experience working in an educational setting or other appropriate experience with school-aged child with speech language and communication :To provide therapy evaluation and language programs for students preschool-5th grade (exact assignment to be determined) Reports to:Director of Pupil Personnel Services Building PrincipalJob Summary:A school-based speech-language pathologist (SLP) works with students to diagnose and treat speech language and communication disorders. Responsibilities include assessing students speech and language abilities developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) providing direct therapy services and collaborating with teachers parents and other professionals to support students academic and social success. The SLP also monitors progress maintains detailed records and ensures compliance with educational standards and Skills: and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students their families colleagues and to apply common sense understanding and to communicate options and solutions when several variables exist. effectively orally and in writing; ability to read write speak and understand compliance with federal state and local regulations including: HIPAA FERPA; requirements; and state statutes and rules regarding SLP education training and scope of specialized equipment used in the treatment of communication disordersPreferred Skills: to teach specialized language methodologies such as Orton Gillingham Wilson strategies Linda Mood Bell Responsibilities: appropriate speech-language services at the elementary level preschool-grade 5 (specific caseload to be determined) referred students administer and interpret diagnostic testing develop required reports and present findings at Team intervention that is appropriate to the age and learning needs of each individual student and is selected through an evidence-based decision-making a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities and that they provide services to other students as liaison with appropriate community agencies administrators teachers and parents concerned with the and develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant and will be used in students educational in-service education and professional development for staff members as and monitor the job performance of any assigned speech and language program goals by teaching and supervising other professionals and paraprofessionals who are involved with the implementation of the intervention augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological consultation and/or direct services to address student needs professional needs and system needs in order for the system to achieve its goals and documentation as required by federal state and local agencies.
