Job Description

Quote and bind transportation related new and renewal accounts through several top-rated insurance companies. Customer service provided to agencies and insurance companies: travel to both multiple times throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain company and agency relationships.
  • Achieve written premium and marketing goals set by management on a monthly basis.
  • Comprehend and maintain underwriting manuals for all companies represented.
  • Analyze renewals and request additional information needed for quoting.
  • Work closely with team of underwriters and senior underwriters to continue learning and improving underwriting skills.
  • Process new and renewal business binders to make sure all information needed is provided.
  • Travel as deemed necessary by the Manager to both agencies & company conventions.
  • Adhere to company-wide minimum service standards.
  • Willingness to pursue education to enhance industry knowledge.
  • Quoting entering and binding small accounts.
  • Policy issuance back-up.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Three years Commercial Lines experience with no degree or Risk Management and Insurance degree with one-year experience preferred
  • CISR AIS or other insurance designation preferred

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Capacity to analyze information and general math skills

Knowledge of underwriting and rate/rule manuals

Proficiency in using online reference manuals

Knowledge of underwriting principles

Knowledge of policy forms

Ability to recognize exposure to loss

Ability to multi-task prioritize make quick decisions and be flexible in a fast-paced environment

Computer experience a must MS Word & Excel experience required

Exceptional interpersonal skills

Ability to clearly and effectively present (both written and verbal) to external business partners management and internal business partners.

Exhibits a professional appearance when representing the organization during agency visits or business meetings.

Knowledge of Commercial Lines Products - ability to differentiate J&J products/services from competitors.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time occasional stooping and reaching; May require lifting-up to 25 pounds; requires normal range of vision and hearing with or without accommodations.
