Acculturation for Justice Access and Peace Outreach (AJAPO) is a Refugee Resettlement serving refugees and immigrants from all over the globe in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
Established in 2002 AJAPO serves to improve the lives of refugees and immigrants through its programming and supports them to thrive and become independent and self sufficient in many aspects of their lives.
AJAPO is seeking to employ an Employment Case Manager to assist our consumers with employment services as they work towards their economic and social self sufficiency in the United States. The candidate will support diversity and be ready to collaborate with other staff at AJAPO as a team to serve consumers.
Case Manager will work with individuals and families to achieve economic self-sufficiency through employment. The duties of the Case Manager will include intake developing service plans employment conversations with consumers training on public transportation ride escort to job interviews and building relationships with employers.
The successful candidate should have current authorization to work in the United States.

The Employment Case Manager will report to the Employment Coordinator.
The Employment Case Manager will provide services to refugees asylees SIVs and other eligible consumers as follows:
Main Responsibilities :
- Provides intake to employable adult consumers 18 years and older ( Some young adults may be in school up to age 20)
- Provides service plans for individuals and families to map out their visions and goals for self- sufficiency community integration and family cohesion.
- Together with consumers converse to develop short resumes
- Assist consumers with job search and completion of job applications
- Provides job- re4adiness counselling
- Provides budgeting training
- Provides public transportation orientation to consumers.
- Assists both consumers and employers with on-boarding services
- Tracks employment performance using in-house tracker
- Documents all consumers activities via specified case notes
- Assists with monthly quarterly and annual reports on employment services.
- Attends internal and external meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in humanities Social Work or related field preferred
- Previous relevant work experience and a demonstrated ability to effectively work with refugee immigrant or diverse communities
- Solid understanding of issues pertinent to refugees and immigrants
- Ability to cultivate excellent relationships with consumers staff and partners
- Ability for tasks management: meeting deadlines and time scheduling for various assignments.
- Digital literacy is a must ( at minimum knowledge of word excel power point publisher and PDF) and ability to learn new software
- Flexibility to work after hours and few weekends when needed.
- While language ability is not needed for the position it will be a plus if candidate speaks any of the preferred languages such as Amharic Arabic Dari French Haitian Kreyol Pashto Somali Spanish Tigrinya Swahili

Requirements:
- Hours of work are in-person from 9am - 5p.m. Monday to Friday. Occasionally depending on clients needs staff work after hours and at weekends.
- Act 33/34 Child Abuse History Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance are required.
- Initial Training on the job as well as some external training such as Mandatory Reporter are also required.
- We require COVID-19 vaccination and the boosters for employees
- Personal vehicle with valid drivers license and proof of insurance
- Successful candidate should have current authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation:
- The pay rate for this position is $21.50/hour (37.5 hours a week)
- Benefit package include 100% staff health vision and dental insurance with a cap of $300/month reimbursable.
- IRA of 3% of pay- staff needs to enroll to benefit.

AJAPO is a Refugee Resettlement Non-Profit Agency affiliated with the Ethiopian Community Development Council and funded through the Department of State under the Bureau of Population Refugees and Migration.
As their first point of contact in the United States refugees received through AJAPO to Pittsburgh are provided with a myriad of services to ease their resettlement. These include housing cultural orientation medical transportation employment school enrollment child care government IDs and a continuum of social services coordination up to five years after their arrival in the United States.

The Mission of AJAPO is to provide a continuum of care which empowers refugees and immigrants residing in the Greater Pittsburgh communities and Allegheny County to become self-sufficient and better integrated into our communities.
Since inception in 2001 AJAPO has successfully implemented service coordination programs for refugees/immigrants through provision of trainings for acculturation life skills leadership/conflict resolution skills counseling support and referrals for access to education housing medical welfare benefits and legal services.
In addition AJAPO provides interpretation and cultural competency services to improve relationships between clients and other service providers. Annually AJAPO serves up to 300 people.
