Job Description

TITLE: Boys Basketball - 7th Grade Head Coach APPROVED 06/24/24

LOCATION: WestlakeMiddle School

STIPEND: $2920.72 for 2025-2026 Season

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Pennsylvania Instructional Certification preferred.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of stipend activity.
  3. Strong organizational skills.
  4. Such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent or designee may find appropriate or acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOALS: To enhance student participation in extracurricular activities and encourage teamwork positivity and excellence in students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Schedule and attend regular meetings/practices with students.
  2. Attend local district state and/or national level competitive tournaments or meetings as required.
  3. Supervise students while attending meetings practices and/or competitions.
  4. Coordinate any necessary travel including submitting paperwork arranging for transportation/lodging and organizing communication to school and/or parents/guardians.
  5. Communicate necessary information to parents/guardians on a regular basis regarding activities.
  6. Develop and maintain budgets schedules and travel plans following School Board policy.
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of fundraisers and activities following School Board policy.
  8. Build strong and positive rapport with students of varying abilities.
  9. Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  1. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  2. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  2. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
  2. Ability to plan and implement programming based on District and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers and parents.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats.
