Job Description

Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency plus additional

secretarial training equivalent to one (1) to three (3) years.

Qualifications: Positive human relations skills. Strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience with a variety of computer applications (Google Microsoft Office). Knowledge of records management systems.

Job Summary: Perform duties that assist the principal(s) in the operation of the school.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Function as school building secretary promoting positive interactions with students staff and parents.
  • Maintain school calendar.
  • Assist with the maintenance of school and student transcripts.
  • Maintain student and staff confidentiality in all circumstances.
  • Perform clerical duties such as managing and directing inquiries filing mail operating electronic door system and scheduling appointments on a daily basis.
  • Track attendance and absences for teachers and students using Absence Management and Power School software and generate reports accordingly.
  • Perform general bookkeeping functions; collect and receipt revenues including student fees participation fees adult education and fund-raising activities.
  • Provide general first aid and medication as needed. (Training is required).
  • Facilitate purchases of department supplies and equipment.
  • Facilitate support of department travel requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.

Terms of Employment: Eleven (11) months (August to June of the academic school year).


Evaluation: Annual written evaluation by the Supervisor.
