Job Title: Marketing and Advertising Specialist

Reports to: Director of District Communications

Location:Teacher Administration Center (TAC) 3215 Cuming Street Omaha NE 68131

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 12-month/Exempt

Salary Schedule: Specialist 1-S04 92A Starting salary $61292.81

Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience.

Position Purpose:

This position promotes sells and implements sponsorship programs in various District locations such as digital scoreboards at sports stadiums and digital ad space on designated websites and mobile platforms. This position will work closely with businesses community organizations agencies and marketing professionals to discuss and execute sponsorship packages that comply with Board of Education policies and achieve partner objectives. This individual will drive revenue growth and foster long-term partnerships by developing a strategic vision and leveraging excellent communication and networking skills.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify potential clients and leads through research networking attending industry events and leveraging existing contacts. Maintain a database of potential clients and opportunities.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing partners and develop a deep understanding of their sponsorship needs. Provide exceptional customer service to address inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Consultative Selling: Understand each clients unique objectives and identify sponsorship opportunities to maximize the partners reach and ROI. Collaborate with the partner to develop compelling collateral concepts when needed.
  • Sponsorship Presentations: Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations explaining sponsorship opportunities to prospective partners showcasing the benefits of showcasing their brand on scoreboards and websites. Clearly articulate the value proposition of our sponsorship solutions.
  • Negotiation and Finalizing Agreements: Negotiate contracts with partners ensuring a benefit for both organizations.
  • Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify new business opportunities and lead in the field.
  • Partnership Reporting: Keep accurate records of partner calls meetings and revenue projections. Provide regular reports to the management team on sponsorship performance.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with district teams to ensure seamless execution of sponsorship campaigns and deliver on promises made to clients.
  • Proactive Marketing: Promote the unique offerings of Omaha Public Schools to target audiences through marketing and advertising. Develop and execute campaigns for the District tied to measurable objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of District Communications the Superintendent or their designee.

Additional Duties:

Assists with additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.

Equipment:This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers copiers scanners and fax machines. The position will also require a deep understanding of communicating on social media. Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.

Travel:This position will require frequent travel between District locations and partner organization offices. Occasional travel outside of Omaha or Nebraska might be required.

Physical and Mental Demands Work Hazards:

  • Ability to attend work regularly and on time.
  • Ability to perform tasks independently.
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice may be required.
  • Ability to travel in and outside of Omaha as requested.
  • Ability to write and correspond verbally at a high level.
  • Ability to represent Omaha Public Schools to the community and partner organizations.

Interrelations:

  • Contact with personnel within the District and among partner organizations.
  • Will work under the direct supervision of the Director of District Communications to complete daily tasks.
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to sponsor needs and maintain a positive attitude with all partner organizations and colleagues.
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external stakeholders in a friendly professional manner and provide quick responsive customer service.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  • In order for our District to operate effectively employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday unless the employee has received approved leave.
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employees supervisor.
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • A bachelors degree in Marketing Advertising Public Relations Journalism Communications or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required.
  • Proven experience in marketing advertising sales or a related field with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and advertising principles and digital marketing trends.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills. Outstanding project management skills.
  • Ability to meet frequent and sometimes changing deadlines with high attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervisory direction. Establish work priorities and follow-up actions required to meet strict deadlines and other requirements accurately and completely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing and to prepare sponsorship documents and campaign collateral.
  • Work collaboratively to create and effectively deliver information to target audiences.
  • Must have advanced computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
  • Familiarity with marketing and the digital advertising landscape is a plus.

Terms of Employment:

This position is treated as a full-time exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
