Transmission Line EIT 2

GAI is seeking an EIT 2 (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include transmission line design experience critical thinking problem solving organization team-focus and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. The successful candidate will be eligible for remote work.

The EIT 2 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope schedule budget and quality of projects within GAIs Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical communication and computer skills.

Competency

• Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.

Job Responsibilities:

• Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
• Preparation of Specification Packages
• Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
• Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
• Design and Analysis of foundations.
• Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes standards and specifications.
• Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
• Coordination and development of permits for Railroads Roadways and Environmental Crossings.
• Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
• Must demonstrate attention to detail.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
• Implements effective engineering methods provides technical guidance and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
• Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects providing peer reviews.

Education and Training Required:

• Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil or Electrical engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) licensure required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in transmission line design.
• Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles.
• Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
• Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE) and FAD Tools.

Travel Required:

• 10%

Education

• B.S. or M.S. Engineering

Certification/Licensure

• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification.

Technical Responsibilities

• Performs basic design tasks.
• Assists on tasks such as: field activities material testing CADD work permit applications and report writing.

Project and Task Management

• Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
• No managerial responsibilities at this level.

Management Responsibility

• Receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments particularly on difficult problems and a general review of all aspects of work.
• Receives mentorship from a licensed engineer.

Communication Skills

• Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.
• Engages in few project stakeholder interactions.
