POSITION: Production Weld Trainer
SHIFT:Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (Frequent OT on Fridays)
PAY RATE: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour (DOE) Full Benefits Package
LOCATION: Lubbock TX
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for new hire training remedial training upskilling and ongoing coaching of all welding positions in the key areas of plant fabrication.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Responsible for teaching welding fundamentals techniques and best practices providing hands-on instruction to ensure welders develop the skills required to meet quality and safety standards along with customer expectations.
- Effectively motivate and engage trainees while still providing critical feedback.
- Responsible for accommodating the training needs of all shifts on site including nights and weekends to ensure welders across all schedules receive consistent development opportunities.
- Identify where learning gaps exist provide training to address those gaps and provide recommendations for improvements to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in interviews alongside site leadership and administer pre-hire weld assessments for potential welders.
- Ensure timely execution of the weld training program in collaboration with Site Leadership Team.
- Accurately completing training records in a timely manner in LMS.
- Attend skill matrix meetings and actively participate in discussions regarding identified skill gaps and propose targeted training or development activities based on the identified skill gap.
- Administer applicable product line weld tests in coordination with the quality control department.
- Upskill employees to ensure they meet current job requirements and are prepared for progression to advance skill levels.
- Collaborate with the Training and Development Team and Quality Team on the design and development of weld training for production new hires.
- Align training efforts with operational needs and employee development goals.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the weld training program and make recommendations to Training and Development Team.
- Participate in ongoing professional training.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND QUALITIES
- Competence in all welding positions and methods pertaining to their site preferred.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as AWS ASME AISC and API preferred.
- Must be able to effectively present complex technical material adapting to different learning styles.
- Blueprint reading with complex building structure knowledge preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and update documentation.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Adaptable patient and organized.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Five years of related experience in Steel Fabrication (Welding Fitting and Machine Operations) preferred.
- Two years of leadership experience preferred.
- Have or obtain a CWI certification within two years of being hired into role.
- Have or obtain an OSHA 10 certification within one year of being hired into role.
- High school diploma/general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
