POSITION SUMMARY:
These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals Mission and Policies of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Early Educator Apprentice Program (EEAP) addresses the shortage of qualified teachers in early learning programs through a comprehensive system of education and On-The-Job-Training (OJT). Apprentices earn college credits or degrees and participate in workplace mentoring that upon completion qualifies them for full time work at the YMCA or in other programs.
Under the direction of the Director of Workforce Development the Workforce Success Manager will provide leadership and direction to EEAP staff and support apprentices by coordinating support services such as tutoring class schedule development and managing student needs for technology and supplies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Deliver high quality services for apprentices that align with EEAP goals and objectives.
2. Guide and manage successful EEAP enrollment including the facilitation of targeted recruitment the assessment of program eligibility and readiness student cohort development coordination of college course offerings and organization of individual and group student support needs.
3. Engage in community college partnerships to ensure successful enrollment and apprentice success including facilitating drops adds holds attendance tracking and signed FERPA releases to check course success status.
4. Manage and facilitate academic and professional development progress which includes obtaining data from both the apprentices instructors and supervisors. Example data may include test scores attendance and tardy record support services class schedules progress report grades grade deficiencies appropriate email address etc.
5. Provide individualized barrier mediation to ensure success including identifying internal and external partnerships to provide for resources and referral services.
6. Oversee the use of appropriate databases and tools to ensure timely and accurate data on each apprentice to meet multiple funding and accountability reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.
7. Facilitate and arrange for soft skills training based on apprentice needs and CA Early Childhood Educator Competencies.
8. Motivate individuals toward successful achievement of their educational and professional goals through consistent contact surveying on-going needs and planning special training and events.
9. Establish a rapport with internal and external key stakeholder and participate in identified workforce initiative meetings.
10. Supervise mentor coach and train Success Specialists and oversee work of identified consultants such as tutors.
11. Participate in developing and monitoring budgets and contracts.
12. Submit data needed to report to funding sources.
13. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations
Must be able to work on a computer for an extended period of time
Must be able to travel locally for meetings training and special events

QUALIFICATIONS:
BA degree in education child development early childhood education or a related field; MA preferred
2 years of experience in workforce/job training child development professional development academic guidance mentoring and/or program design/implementation
Experience working with 2 and 4-year colleges/universities
Experience serving dual language and immigrant populations non-traditional college students first generation college students
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Valid California Drivers License/proof of auto insurance/annual DMV check required
Criminal record clearance and health requirements that include physical exam TB and immunizations
Proficiency in Microsoft Word Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
Knowledge of child development and/or early childhood education as well as professional development program design and implementation and experience with coaching mentoring and/or academic guidance.
