MUSIC TEACHER
Part-time (0.6 FTE) position
Chartwell Elementary School
Effective September 2 2025 until June 30 2026
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59711 to $109520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
We are seeking a dynamic collaborative and inspiring Music Educator to join the staff at Chartwell Elementary. The successful candidate will bring energy professionalism and a passion for music to our K7 students with a particular focus on intermediate grades. This position includes teaching music to students across all grades and leading both primary and intermediate choirs.
The successful teacher will demonstrate the following:
- Hold a valid B.C. Teaching Certificate with a specialization in Music Education.
- Have training and experience delivering a comprehensive and developmental music program for elementary-aged students using approaches such as Orff and Kodly.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching intermediate-aged learners using engaging and age-appropriate strategies to foster joy and musical growth.
- Have experience leading school choirs and show initiative in developing a vibrant choral program that celebrates student voice and community.
- Exhibit excellent classroom management skills using positive consistent strategies grounded in respect and structure.
- Demonstrate an understanding of child development and the ability to plan inclusive differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of students.
- Be familiar with the B.C. Arts Education curriculum and capable of effectively planning assessing and reporting student learning in Music.
- Value opportunities to integrate music instruction across the curriculum such as linking music to classroom themes or whole-school events.
- Be eager to contribute to school-wide performances assemblies and special events that build school spirit and strengthen community connections.
- Be willing and able to work across primary and intermediate grades adjusting instruction to meet developmental levels and learning needs.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and a commitment to diversity in music education including the incorporation of global music traditions and inclusive practices.
- Be comfortable with basic music technology (e.g. digital composing tools online music platforms interactive whiteboards) to enhance learning experiences.
- Work well independently and take initiative as a part-time team member maintaining strong communication with colleagues and families.
