Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key administrative role in the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible for coordinating employee training tracking licensure and certification requirements supporting recruitment and onboarding and ensuring compliance with hospital HR standards. The HR Generalist works closely with the Director of Human Resources to support various HR functions and employee lifecycle activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of employee licenses and certifications; ensure timely renewals and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate employee training programs including compliance and clinical education and monitor completions.
- Support the recruitment process by posting jobs screening candidates scheduling interviews and coordinating background checks and drug screens.
- Lead onboarding process for all new hires paperwork and HRIS tasks.
- Conduct new hire orientation sessions and facilitate department introductions.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to training licensure and onboarding.
- Maintain and update employee records in HRIS and personnel files.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources with projects audits reports and general department needs.
- Support performance evaluation processes in collaboration with the HR Director and supervisors.
- Ensure licensure verification documentation is audit-ready for Joint Commission and regulatory reviews.
- Collaborate with department leaders and clinical education teams to ensure training and licensure compliance.
- Coordinate pre-employment drug testing and post-offer communication workflows.
- Help maintain compliance with labor laws hospital protocols and accreditation standards.
- Conduct regular HR file audits to ensure documentation accuracy and readiness for internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with corporate subject matter experts in benefits recruitment payroll and employee training to support HR operations.
- Contribute to HR communications such as newsletters recognition programs and internal events.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required (Human Resources Business Administration Healthcare Administration or related field).
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- SHRM-CP and/or HRCI PHR preferred
- Strong knowledge of healthcare licensure requirements and HR compliance standards preferred.
- Experience with ATS and HRIS platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook).
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based within a hospital environment; occasional presence in clinical or department areas required.
- Extended periods of sitting or computer work; frequent walking throughout the hospital campus.
- May occasionally lift materials up to 25 lbs (e.g. files orientation packets).
- Exposure to a typical healthcare setting with associated sights sounds and interactions.
- Must follow all hospital safety and infection control protocols.
