Job Description

Institutional Mission

Nelson University exists to equip students spiritually academically professionally and cross-culturally for their God-given careers and callings.

Position Overview

This position involves directing university choral ensembles with responsibilities that include leading rehearsals selecting appropriate repertoire organizing performances and collaborating with faculty in planning departmental and university-wide events. The position supports undergraduate students in the Music Education Music Performance and Worship Leadership programs. Additional duties may include voice coaching.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Masters degree in Choral Conducting Vocal Performance Music Education or a related field is required.

Demonstrated experience directing choral ensembles at the collegiate high school or community level.

Strong musicianship including effective rehearsal techniques and knowledge of diverse choral literature.

Ability to inspire and engage students in a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Familiarity with sacred classical and contemporary choral repertoire especially within a Christian university context is preferred.

Piano proficiency and basic arranging skills are desirable.

Experience in worship leadership or church music ministry is a plus.
