Hourly rate of pay is dependent on the Level of the Apprentice as follows:
Level 1: 0-20 competencies $18.21
Level 2: 21-30 competencies $22.18
Level 3: 31-37 competencies $26.49
Job Description:
We are seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our educational institution as a Teacher Apprentice and receive training to become a licensed teacher. In this role you will have the opportunity to work closely with a qualified mentor journeyworker teacher to support you as you gain valuable hands-on experience in a classroom setting while you complete on-the-job learning. As a Teacher Apprentice you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students while collaborating with the teaching staff to create a positive and engaging educational environment.
A benefit of this position is enrolling in the Utah Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers (U-RAPT) a new pathway for those seeking an educator license.
Teacher Apprentices will be paid to learn the occupation of educator with the consistent guidance of a mentor journeyworker teacher and wraparound support from the employer and a participating college/university while demonstrating competency and completing coursework. This 1-3 year position provides an extended clinical experience and results in the obtaining of a bachelors degree and a professional educator license.

General Purpose
Learn How to be a Teacher: Work with a mentor journeyworker teacher daily to develop necessary skills to demonstrate the 37 General Teacher Preparation Competencies - and grade or content specific competencies to qualify for a professional license to teach.
Classroom Support: Assist the mentor journeyworker teacher in preparing and organizing instructional materials classroom setup and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Student Support: Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere. Support students during classroom activities transitions and independent work. Passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.
Instructional Assistance: Collaborate with the mentor journeyworker teacher to deliver lessons and activities designed to meet the educational objectives of the curriculum when the apprentice is ready. Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic educational environment. Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced teachers.
Grading and Assessment: Assist in grading assignments exams and projects according to established guidelines. Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
Lesson Planning: Collaborate with the mentor journeyworker teacher to develop and implement lesson plans ensuring alignment with the curriculum goals and individual student needs.
Classroom Management: Support the mentor journeyworker teacher in maintaining discipline and managing classroom routines and procedures. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation.
Professional Development: Actively participate in professional development opportunities workshops and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with current educational practices.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with students parents and other staff members. Provide feedback to the lead teacher on student progress challenges and achievements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance recording record-keeping and organizing student portfolios. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Patience empathy and the ability to establish positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Requirements:
Please note that as a Teacher Apprentice you will not be the teacher of record and will work under the supervision and guidance of an assigned mentor journeyworker teacher.
