Job Description

Position Calendar: 218 Days

Primary Purpose: Promote student learning by providing responsive instruction that makes use of effective communication techniques instructional strategies that actively engage students in the learning process and timely high-quality feedback which leads to improved student achievement and success.

Qualifications: Education/Certification:

  1. Bachelors degree from accredited university
  2. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Knowledge of subjects assigned
  2. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  3. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  4. Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  1. At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  1. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  1. Oversee Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP) including assisting students in selecting and managing projects at the Agricultural Center and/or student facilities.
  2. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations in order to prepare students for industry certification and entry-level employment.
  1. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  1. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  1. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  1. Collaborate with Academic Program of Study and other members of staff to determine instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements including the effective integration of academics and appropriate preparation for industry certification.
  1. Partner with related business and industry to provide applicable work-based learning activities for students.
  2. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  3. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

  1. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  1. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  1. Serve as co-advisor to local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter including planning and conducting leadership citizenship cooperative career development FFA Degrees and competitive activities for students at local regional and state level.

15. Be a positive role model for students support misson of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
  1. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  1. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities and maintain a teaching lab that simulates real-world work environments.
  1. Assist in selection of and maintain inventory of books equipment and other instructional materials.

Communication

  1. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals teachers and business partners.
  1. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
  1. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Personal Growth and Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills including job shadowing and industry-related skills development training.
  1. Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  1. Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.
  1. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

General Duties

  1. Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
  1. Work in harmony with supervisory faculty and peer personnel.
  1. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
  1. Support and follow administrative and Board policy.

  1. Maintain a sincere friendly attitude toward patrons.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending pulling and pushing required. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom equipment.
