Job Description

We are currently looking for a Defanning Specialist to join our cultivation team here in St. Johns! The Defanning Specialist is responsible for the careful removal of fan leaves from flowering cannabis plants at specific stages of the flower cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carefully remove excess fan leaves from flowering cannabis plants at designated stages to improve light exposure and air circulation within the canopy.
  • Identify and remove only the appropriate leaves to avoid stressing or damaging the plant.
  • Follow defanning schedules as directed by Management to support optimal plant performance and flowering development.
  • Maintain consistency and precision in technique across all assigned plants to ensure uniformity in plant care.
  • Collect and properly dispose of or compost plant waste in accordance with company protocols and state regulations.
  • Monitor plants during the defanning process for signs of pests disease or stress and report any concerns immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace adhering to facility hygiene and sanitation protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Accurately record completed tasks and plant/batch information as required by internal tracking systems and/or state-mandated systems such as Biotrack or METRC.
  • Assist in other cultivation duties as needed including pruning trellising and general plant maintenance.
  • Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure.
  • Assist with the implementation of company policies standard operating procedures and performance standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Daily compliance with company policies including but not limited to; state/local regulation compliance security protocols access protocols dress code and work schedules.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years or older
  • Ability to pass drug testing and Level 2 Florida State background check

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This job position may involve exposure to cannabis cannabis odors and cannabis smoke which is a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law.
