Job Description
Overview
Selux is offering an exciting oppporunity to become a Machine Operator Apprentice!
Machine Operator Apprentice will acquire the necessary skills to operate machinery for making light fixtures in a manufacturing environment.
Salary: $17hr
As an apprentice you will work with an experienced Machine Operator personnel complete 2700 hours of hands-on training over several years in areas of:
- Safety and Workplace Orientation
- Production Equipment Set Up
- Production Equipment Operation
- Quality Production and Quality Assurance
- Routine Equipment Maintenance
- Inventory and Material Processes
- General Business Knowledge
- Continuous Improvement
- Local Options
* Apprentices must complete 144 hours of related classroom instruction covering Safety Health and the Workplace and Trade Theory & Skills
* Ensure safety culture is maintained and respond to all EH&S requirements promptly
Qualifications
Qualifications / Interest
- The ideal apprentice candidate should have entry level experience in manufacturing / industrial maintenance or the interest and ability to learn quickly on the job
- Industrial maintenance experience interest or mechanical aptitude
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read write and speak English fluently
- Understand the critical importance of environmental rules and regulations
- Be available to work overtime when required
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The ability to use appropriate measuring instruments to the task.
- The ability to operate hand tools.
- The ability to operate a variety of machines in the factory including sheet metal punching and forming drilling tapping cutting bending sanding grinding etc.
- Strive to meet planned work center times in ERP system.
- The ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks.
- The ability to communicate professionally.
- Maintain a clean work area as required.
- Working ability to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with regulatory agencies.
- Performs ERP transactions accurately to company policies and procedures.
