JOB OVERVIEW:
Provide full-service support to the plant environmental health safety and sustainability (EH&S) department. Assists in the implementation of EH&S programs and initiatives for the plant. Works on projects/activities supporting all facility goals continuous improvement initiatives business unit/manufacturing strategies. Acts as site liaison for visits and tours as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with Plant EH&S Manager to establish communicate and execute measurable key performance initiatives and cultural goals to deliver best-in-class safety quality service and performance objectives.
- Implements measures and sustains EH&S goals to ensure adherence to site and organization-wide EH&S programs.
- Fosters an environment of continuous improvement and learning to achieve and maintain industry leadership.
- Perform regular EH&S inspections as directed by the EH&S Manager.
- Assists in the development of site EH&S certifications.
- Learns and applies sound motivational and correctional techniques including team member coaching and positive recognition.
- Works with all department leadership when needed on the development of post incident root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Acts as Core EH&S Champion team coach meeting facilitator and participates when needed in Culture Team meetings.
- Assists in the facilitation of EH&S and other site learning and celebratory events.
- Participates in the development and training of any department effective employee training programs.
- Reviews on a prescribed basis EH&S programs training modules and leads revision sessions when required.
- Engages in incident response including first aid triage and transport as required
- Completes site and project risk assessments including contractor and engineering projects.
- Reviews reports papers and other records prepared by personnel for clarity completeness accuracy and conformance with company policies.
- Routes approved reports and records to appropriate personnel.

- Attend conferences training and any off-site activities as needed.
- Complete monthly site SWPPP audits
- Complete annual LOTO document review
- Complete regular facility walks and appropriately addresses at-risk behaviors and/or conditions
- Submit work orders and communicate directly with the maintenance team when needed
- Act as onsite EH&S leader and site resource when EH&S manager is absent
Minimum level of education required
Bachelor of Science Degree OR 4 years of EHS support for a manufacturing organization
Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations Accounting Forklift Operator Inventory Control etc.)
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification will be required post hire and will be required to act as a first responder when needed for incidents and/or injuries
Other job requirements (e.g. certifications/licenses CPG experience work overtime/weekends etc.)
- Required to work weekends and overtime as business dictates.
- Required to adhere to appropriate business etiquette professional behavior and exemplify strong leadership characteristics.
- Attend either in-person or remote meetings when required.
- Keep MS Outlook calendar up to date for peer visibility.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs Word PowerPoint Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Investigative and analytical skills required. Experience and ability to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education specific software experience etc.)
- Bachelors degree in environmental health and safety Industrial Engineering Business or Operations Management.
- EH&S related experience for a food and beverage organization.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
- Experience functioning as a proactive team player.
- Demonstrated leadership ability through discovering and utilizing peoples capabilities recognizing good work and earning the respect of peers and subordinates.
- Strong planning skills with ability to analyze trends and determine corrective actions.
- History of training small and large groups
- Recordkeeping and report submitting skills
- Ability to reference and cite CCR T8 and CFR 29 safety regulatory standards
- Strong understanding and applicability of OSHAs Hierarchy of Controls
- Root Cause Analysis skills
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The position may require:
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- Bend stoop and twist while performing lifting duties
- Transport heavy boxes or other heavy objects across the office or into storage spaces for various needs
- May need to sit or stand for long periods of time
Position may require employee to work around energized equipment and is routinely exposed to hazardous materials. Position may require the exposure to various adverse conditions such as heat cold noise dust fumes dirt and grease and chemical substance.
