The CI&I team creates impactful community outcomes and positions Capital One as the most strategically bold innovative and mission driven financial institution through:

• Fueling strategic community investments (e.g. grants skills loans)

• Delivering insights advice and resources that inform Capital Ones products and services

The Community Impact and Investment team supports Capital One through leading enterprise volunteerism conducting market research fostering community relationships grant making originating CDFI loans and partnering with and advising LOBs.

The Opportunity and Role:

Community Impact and Investment is in the midst of a multiyear transformation to increasingly align business strategy and social impact; launch new different and more holistic approaches to investing in our communities; use Capital Ones volunteer time and talent in increasingly strategic ways; and use data analytics research and inclusive design to inform more targeted and actionable consulting to our business partners on topics related to a broad view of financial inclusion.

Were seeking a Principal Associate Project Manager - CI&I Strategic Initiatives to join our developing Managed Services function within our Market Engagement team. The Market Engagement team enables Capital Ones business continuity and growth by leveraging hyperlocal and national community intelligence to efficiently fulfill regulatory and societal commitments to low- to moderate-income (LMI) communities amplify our investments and cultivate powerful mission-driven collaborators who share our vision of creating economic opportunity for all. In this role you will be responsible for end-to-end project management and delivery of large-scale social impact initiatives and business operations to enable the Market Engagement team to provide best-in-class partnership across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.

In this role youll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in three key areas:

Build a Centralized Project Management Function to Unlock Team Enablement

• Youll take mission-aligned opportunities for Capital One and make them a reality through execution

• Youll work with early-lifecycle opportunities adding definition to their scope and objectives turning them into tangible and purposeful delivery opportunities

• Youll manage large and small scale projects that have been prioritized by the organization including integration projects and work related to other department level or enterprise-wide initiatives

• Youll establish appropriate governance over work as it matures to facilitate its progress maintain the motivation of the team and to keep its stakeholders up to date

• Youll leverage your project management prowess to build infrastructure and operationalize repeatable processes and procedures

• Youll serve as a subject matter expert on the execution of strategic initiatives and projects in a well-managed sustainable way

Harness Influence to Ignite Collaboration

• Youll partner with a broad array of internal partners to grow and demonstrate Capital Ones corporate identity and mission orientation to external communities

• Youll serve as strategic advisor supporting the day-to-day and longer-term objectives of the team department and External Affairs organization

• Youll be a transparent and motivated ambassador for the work of our team through in-person discussions and presentations delivered to audiences of varying size and seniority

• Youll build influence and impact that extends beyond the boundaries of our team through leadership without authority

• Youll thoughtfully implement frameworks that contribute to efficiencies without impeding creativity

• Youll monitor and report KPIs for your initiatives and projects and will be responsible for measuring and tracking those metrics with an eye to adjusting and refining strategies as stakeholder and customer needs dictate

• Youll identify ways to improve plan design and manage project plans and processes

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or military experience

• At least 4 years of experience in project management process management project delivery or any combination of the three

• At least 2 years of experience working in a for-profit company

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management Professional (PMP) Lean Agile or Six Sigma certification

• At least 1 year of experience working with nonprofits or startups on large-scale social impact projects

• Experience in market research and analyses

• Experience with complex stakeholder management

• Experience in financial services

• Experience in sales or other domains deeply dependent on the quality of relationship management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
