Whats the role

The role is responsible for second line compliance support to the Merchant Payments team within Global Transaction Services (GTS) a key part of Westpacs Institutional Bank. GTS supports the payments cash management and working capital needs of Commercial Corporate Institutional and Government clients.

Responsibilities include providing compliance advice on merchant acquiring products (POS online eCommerce) supporting incident management and regulatory reporting and monitoring regulatory changes and emerging risks. The role also involves interpreting and advising on obligations under the Payment Systems Act Corporations Act ePayments Code and card scheme rules. Strong collaboration across the Three Lines of Defence and Westpac divisions is essential to provide clear 2nd Line Compliance advice.

What do I need

  • Extensive experience in banking or financial services with a large corporation regulator or legal or professional services firm
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Australian regulatory environment and financial services regulation. Preference given to candidates who can demonstrate experience and knowledge of payment systems particularly merchant payments and its corresponding regulatory and industry framework
  • Demonstrated experience in managing key stakeholder relationships at a senior level
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory information and present findings effectively
  • Bachelors degree (Law or equivalent preferred)
