Job Description

Union Mutual is currently recruiting for the right candidate to join our Company as an In Force Underwriter.The Company will consider remote or hybrid work arrangements but regular travel to the Companys office in Montpelier Vermont will be required.

Job Summary:

The In Force Underwriter isaccountable for retention of a profitable portfolio of business based on Union Mutuals business strategies and objectives. Success in this position will require understanding of Union Mutual products reinforcement of agency relationships effective risk engineering employment of creative underwriting strategies pricing and coordination of resources to provide excellent value-added service enhancing the customer experience.

Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree (B.A.) from a college or university in an appropriate discipline is desirable.
  • Three to five years related underwriting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills.
  • Working knowledge of the insurance business including understanding risk identification and assessment property / casualty insurance coverage forms financial statements and business computer applications.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication time management analysis decision-making problem solving and marketing / negotiation. Demonstrated ability to establish a network of industry contacts.
  • CPCU (Certified Property Casualty Underwriter) ARM AIM AIC or comparable designations are encouraged.
  • Licensed Insurance Agent preferable.
