Hillside Boutique Hotel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. In this role you will assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. If you have a love for cooking and are eager to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment we want to hear from you!Where you can make an impact:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients including chopping marinating and portioning.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands and guest expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor food quality during preparation and cooking to ensure flavor and presentation meet resort standards.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create seasonal menus and specials providing input on new dishes.
  • Assist with inventory management including receiving and storing food products and reporting any shortages.
  • Support kitchen operations by cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment utensils and workstations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen atmosphere.

Requirements

Education/Formal Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in hospitality management preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of culinary experience in a professional kitchen with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or Sous Chef role
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
  • Strong background in kitchen operations including prep line execution plating and service standards.
  • Experience with inventory control ordering and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in menu development recipe costing and seasonal specials.
  • Ability to collaborate with the Executive Chef and FOH teams.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for providing outstanding service.
  • Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
  • Basic computer proficiency including MS Office and reservation software.
  • Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
