Job Description
Chief Objective of Position: Supervises the care (feeding milking breeding observing and treating illness etc.) of 232 milking cows and 225 replacement heifers located in various barns and lots used in the teaching and research projects conducted by the Dairy Science Department and the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Daily supervises 6 - 9 employees (Agricultural Specialists and Student Workers) to complete the above. Works with faculty and graduate students to implement research and teaching protocols. Teaches trains and supervises students in the proper procedures for all of the above.
Required Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. degree in Dairy Science or related field or equivalent experience and training. The individual must be highly motivated committed to excellence professional and extremely well-organized with a strict attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing a commercial dairy; Specific experience managing dairy heifers
