The Head of Hospitality and Events will have a key role in delivering aspects of the commercial strategy by driving the events business through effective management of the Events and Catering team. The post holder will ensure all existing and new activities within hospitality and events at HES are profitable and look for ways to strengthen innovate and add additional value to any partnership agreement such as the long-standing relationship with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The post holder will also be responsible for overseeing the management of the catering partner ensuring both day-catered and hospitality opportunities are aligned to the corporate standard expected throughout the HES addition they will be the face for HES at external events and client EXPOs.

Key Responsibilities of this role
- Work with the HoCD&E to plan and implement a 5-year business plan for hospitality and events targeting sustainable and profitable business growth
- Work with the HoCD&E to plan and implement a 5-year strategy for Catering day visitors and event hospitality.
- Responsible for overseeing the strategic sales and promotion of all function of the department contributing to the profit delivery.
- Work with the HoCD&E to deliver commercial improvements through the development of sales and event delivery systems and partnerships which are aligned with the departments strategic vision.
- Advance any possible enhancements within the legal framework of the existing contracts building a business case and aligning with HoCD&E.
- Accountable for the departments budget forecasting and managing expenditure and delivering a profitable return on investment.
- Apply strong commercial rational to ensure P&L delivery of the department projects and report accordingly.
- Accountable for providing monthly forecasting business and financial updates as relevant across all areas of the department to the HoCD&E.
- Lead the development and implementation of an effective sales proposition across the HES estate. Ensuring that our events and hospitality offer is consistent premium and market leading utilising the key USPs of the HES portfolio.
- Management of key HES commercial partnership events and ensure professional execution of existing contracts and examples include REMT castle concerts Castle of Light Cycling World Championship.
- You will explore opportunities to grow your business area and brief HoCD&E and key senior team members on new opportunities.
- Working with your team to deliver and improve of the holiday let business utilising existing properties. Responsible for ensuring a robust operating and maintenance plan is created and managed.
- Target and develop new partnerships for events at other sites and collaborate with HoCD&E to create a full operational business case.
- Work cross-functionally to create and install agreements with third parties that enhance the offers across all areas of the department.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across all areas of the department.
- Lead the H&E team including recruitment training and career development. Drive personal growth with effective line management and countersigning responsibilities.
- Lead and develop a culture of commercial professionalism and entrepreneurship within the team.
- Support the Contracts Catering Manager with management of the relationship with the catering partner and give the team clear direction to manage sustainable growth. Identifying influencing and optimising new initiatives and recommending investment areas to HoCD&E.

- Experience supporting organisations with multiple stakeholders to achieve their vision and objectives.
- Practical experience of working with a range of external partners and an understanding of complex partnership agreements.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field.
