Nurse Unit Manager Palliative Care

Seeking a compassionate highly motivated and dynamic Nurse Manager for Caritas Christi in Kew

  • Purpose built stand-alone site at Kew
  • Full-time permanent role in palliative care
  • Leadership of a diverse nursing workforce who have a passion for palliative care

About the Role

This is a rare and unique opportunity for a nurse manager to put their passion compassion and leadership in practice in a purpose built facility. As the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) of this new Palliative Care Facility in Kew you will lead the efficient safe and effective operations of Caritas Christi and its staff; and ensure the delivery and coordination of patient focussed and consumer-led care. You will provide leadership innovation and vision to the multidisciplinary team and inspire a culture that supports contemporary practice and builds capabilities to deliver exceptional patient centred care based on evidence-based practice. This position is responsible for the compliance with SVHM policies procedures and best practice palliative care.

Duties

  • Effectively manage the operations of the 20 bed unit to support the coordination of all resources in order to achieve optimal continuity of care
  • Provide and demonstrate leadership to a multidisciplinary team to support best practice patient outcomes.
  • Create and maintain a culture that supports engagement and actively delivered person centred care.
  • Build and maintain effective professional and respectful relationships with relatives carers and a broad range of community-based agencies.
  • Contribute to service development and service-wide activities aligned with optimal quality improvement approaches.
  • Support teaching and research activities within the service
  • Participate in budget allocation management and monitoring to ensure the most efficient use of resources.

Classifications for this position will range from NM11 ($126074 per annum)


Qualifications Skills and Experience

  • Current Nursing Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate qualification in palliative care is essential
  • Leadership experience in the delivery and management of clinical services particularly in a palliative care setting

About the Palliative Care Team

Palliative Care at SVHM is delivered by coordinated medical nursing and allied health services that are provided where possible in the environment of the persons choice. Currently inpatient palliative care is provided with 16 inpatient beds; a Palliative Care Consultancy Service; and aligned with the Centre for Palliative Care. Caritas Christi needs your leadership as we aspire to be the best practice inpatient palliative care unit; and will continue to fosterand enhance expertise and developments in the provision of palliative care.
