Title: Learning Center Aide
Primary Objective:
- Assist Principal and Assistant Principal by coordinating all aspects of the learning center and assisting in other building activities with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Works well with minimal supervision
- Able to effectively and efficiently prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Friendly and professional attitude as well as discretion in matters relating to students parents staff members and office business matters
- Works well with others
- Computer skills necessary including being proficient in Microsoft Office
- Adept at learning and using other related software and web-based programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a school or library setting
- Library Technical Assistant certificate
- Knowledge of Follett Destiny system

- Principal Assistant Principal

- Per MCSA Negotiated Agreement
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise bus riders and walkers at arrival and dismissal per building needs
- Supervise students during lunch and/or recess per building needs
- Oversee the smooth operation of the learning center
- Process library books including stamping and covering books
- Maintain a schedule of classes that utilize the learning center
- Provide assistance to students pertaining to the learning center as needed
- Maintain Follett Destiny system for the card catalog and shelf list
- Coordinate book fair(s)/sales per building administration
- Keep track of overdue books assess and collect fines
- Make recommendations of new titles for purchase to the administration
- Answer telephone and assist in answering inquiries
- Perform student supervision tasks outside of the learning center as assigned
- Oversee the appearance of the learning center and its displays
- Remove old books that are outdated or beyond repair
- Maintain an inventory books and supplies
- Submit request for needed items via mini-grants through MEF/PTA when applicable
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
- Bending carrying climbing lifting pushing pulling reaching sitting standing and walking
- Must be able to occasionally lift move or push items of 30 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Includes extremes of temperature and humidity
- Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases
Terms of Employment:
- 180 days per year (includes4 paid holidays) 7 hours per day
