Job Description
Amazon Robotics is building a new foundational automation system which will transform warehouse operations by enabling the integration of multiple complex automation solutions. The team is seeking a talented and motivated Firmware Development Engineer to design and develop controls for robotics systems and industrial automation equipment.
The Firmware Development Engineer will be responsible for designing developing integrating troubleshooting and optimizing various automation solutions while acting as a engineering steward for our internal product development teams internal/external engineering partner teams and on behalf of our global Amazon customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Design develop simplify and continuously improve system controls architecture including machine control code networking electrical and safety design
- Identify and implement system optimizations; debug internal and field issues; develop tools and best practices for system monitoring and troubleshooting
- Mentor and develop junior engineers in design and development best practices
- Contribute to value engineering of the systems electrical and controls hardware components
- 25% travel expected to support onsite system testing

- 7 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 5 years of design and development in embedded application programming and firmware board integration
- 7 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
